While in Washington, DC, Global UGRAD students are advised to follow standard, good personal hygiene practices such as, wear a face mask on public transportation and inside medical facilities, maintaining hand hygiene (washing with soap and water or using hand sanitizer), and keeping physical distance of at least one meter from people they do not know.
Participants are asked to monitor their health for any symptoms that could indicate possible contraction of COVID-19 or other illnesses. People with COVID-19 have reported a wide range of symptoms, ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms, which may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus, include the following: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of Breath, Difficulty with breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Please notify World Learning staff if you begin experiencing these symptoms at any point during the seminar.
World Learning encourages all participants to take an antigen test within 72 hours before traveling to the workshop. If you test positive for COVID-19 prior to your arrival in Washington, DC you must notify World Learning staff immediately and will be unable to take part in the workshop. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (fever, dry cough, loss of taste and smell, and difficulty breathing) and/or you test positive for COVID-19 during the workshop, you must self-isolate in your hotel room.
Global UGRAD students who experience COVID-19 symptoms during the workshop should notify World Learning staff immediately. World Learning staff will have extra antigen tests for participants who are experiencing any symptoms. Depending on the severity of the case, World Learning staff will work with the student to arrange care at the local hospital.
Face masks are recommended but not required for participants to take part in workshop activities. World Learning will provide face masks at registration and during the workshop for any student who wishes to wear one.
